Charlie Maxwell is Co-Chairman at Cresset, and previously served as Chairman and CEO of Meristem Family Wealth, where he worked closely with ultra-high-net-worth families for more than 35 years.
Throughout his life, Charlie has pursued his entrepreneurial spirit and innate desire to serve others. He started his career unloading trucks, cleaning boats and phone booths, cutting lawns, and serving as Captain on various boats. In these early jobs, Charlie learned the value of hard work, grit, leadership, and partnership.
Charlie leverages his extensive experience in managing wealth over the past four decades to bring a historical perspective to the challenges we face today. He relishes working with families as well as assisting prospective client families in finding their fit at Cresset.
An advocate for children, Charlie has served as Foundation Chair and sat on the Operations Board for Children’s Minnesota. Charlie is a past board member at Fraser and currently serves on the board for Album Health. He takes great pride in philanthropic involvement supporting causes throughout the company footprint.
As pioneer in the multi-family office industry, Charlie’s vison of finding a “better way” to advise families has been successful. As a visionary, he has cultivated a team of client-driven and caring professionals to serve clients, their families, and their communities, and to preserve legacy.
Charlie earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Iowa and is a CFP® professional.
