Patrick R. Regan, MBA, CFA®

Managing Director, Deputy CIO

Patrick Regan

As Managing Director, Deputy CIO, Patrick advises the team to apply broad financial perspectives and experiences learned from internal research and due diligence work to recommend opportune managers and strategies — one client family at a time.

Patrick loves how the disciplined aspects of the business often collide with the emotional side of being human. “This job is not about ‘checking boxes’ but having real and honest dialogue, asking the right questions, and using both strategy and creativity to connect with partners, potential partners, and clients.”

The Cresset approach to investment analysis manifests itself in the miles and time-zones Patrick and his team travel to, “kick the tires.” From Wayzata to Mumbai, they walk the facilities and sit at the tables of the companies and people Cresset consider as investment partners. Patrick is committed to due diligence done absolutely right.

Patrick holds prior leaders he’s worked with in high regard as mentors and motivators. Whether an entry-level internship, or a high-pressure executive position, Patrick extracted the soul of the experience and made it a part of his character. Patrick pays this gift of mentorship forward and enjoys mentoring and training Cresset colleagues.

Patrick earned a master’s degree in finance from the University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management and a bachelor’s degree, cum laude, in economics from St. John’s University. He is a CFA® charterholder.
