Celebrating an Exceptional Artist

Meristem news

Based in the Twin Cities, Kari Wagner provided artwork for Meristem’s holiday greeting since 2012. Born with cerebral palsy, she was non-verbal and unable to hold a paintbrush in her hand. Instead, Kari created artwork through the use of adaptive headgear that held her paintbrush. Her head movements then dictated her brushstrokes. Kari used art as a means of expressing her feelings and her faith. The Meristem team has many special memories of meeting with Kari and her family each year to review her art and select a piece to feature on the firm’s holiday greeting. It is with great sadness that we share the news of Kari’s passing in May of this year.

Kari’s artwork lives on through the website kariwagner-artwork.com. Proceeds are directed to The Expressions of Faith Fund to provide art programs for people with disabilities. Traditionally, in the second week of December, Meristem hosts an open house in the office to reflect upon the season with clients and friends. This year, in addition to our recent virtual event, Meristem has made a gift to Kari’s fund on behalf of our client families and colleagues.
